Shamkhani: Iraqi people, government action to expel occupiers deserves appreciation

Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said that the measure taken by the Iraqi government, parliament and the nation deserves special appreciation calling for the expulsion of the US troops as it is the region's general demand.

After a meeting with Falih Fayyadh at a news conference, Shamkhani emphasized that the Zionists are against stability and regional security, expressing the hope that someday there will be no Zionists in the region we live in.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always wished stability and peace for Iraq and that Iraq could undoubtedly play a role in regional and global issues in the near future.

The secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran made the remark that the level of cooperation, consultation, and assistance between the two governments and the nations of Iran and Iraq in the various economic, political, social and health fields has increased exponentially since 2003.

Shamkhani noted: "During a meeting with Iraqi National Security Adviser Falih Fayyadh, they discussed various security, regional issues and Iraqi important roles in these areas."

Also, Iraqi National Security Advisor Falih Fayyadh said at the news conference that his country cared for cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all areas and called for expansion of cooperation in all sectors.

"The Iraqi people and government do not forget the Islamic Republic of Iran's help in defeating ISIS," he added.

Fayyadh said that the Iraqi people will, despite their hardships, overcome the problems with patience.

The Iraqi National Security Adviser expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the visit of Admiral Shamkhani to his country.

The representative of the Leader and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran arrived in Baghdad on Saturday 7 March for a two-day trip to Baghdad.
