The Iranian Minister of Petroleum, Bijan Namdar Zangeneh

Tehran (IP) – The Iranian Minister of Petroleum has said the countdown for launching a major plant for collecting and processing associated petroleum gas (APG) has already started with $3 billion worth of investments.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking in a televised interview on Tuesday evening, Bijan Namdar Zangeneh said the Bidboland Gas Refinery plant, the largest APG collecting and processing plant in Iran, is to be launched early next calendar year which begins on 21 March 2020, Iran Press reported.

He said the project would be a major environmental project in the southwestern province of Khuzestan and would be instrumental in the petrochemical development of Gachsaran.

Zangeneh said the plant would operate with a gas processing capacity of 56 million cubic meters/day and would produce 3.4 million tons of petrochemical feedstock.

He also added that two deals had been struck with the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company and Maroon Petrochemical Company for gathering APG in East Karoon fields, adding once the projects come on stream, the value of petrochemical products produced by them would exceed $2 billion.

Zangeneh went on to say that the NGL 3200 plant for gathering APG was also being constructed in the West Karoon region which would hopefully come online by 2021. There has been 40% progress in the project so far.

He said Iran’s gas exports to Iraq continue uninterrupted, adding that Baghdad owes Tehran some $2 billion for the natural gas imports and preparations were being made to settle the debt.
