The 66th intelligence, training flotilla of the Iranian Navy departed Bandar Abbas for the high seas.

Iran Press/Iran news: The 66th flotilla, including Khark helicopter carrier and Bayandor destroyer, were dispatched to the mission from Bandar Abbas port, according to the report of the Army public relations office on Thursday.

While fulfilling the mission, the flotilla is to berth in several littoral states of the Indian Ocean.

The Iranian Navy’s 64th flotilla departed the country’s southern coast on 29 October 2019 for a mission in international waters.

The 64th Iranian “intelligence-combat” flotilla included Alvand destroyer and the Bandar Abbas logistical warship set sail for the high seas immediately after the return of the 63rd naval flotilla, which traveled 15,000 nautical miles in international waters during a 100-day mission.

In recent years, Iran’s naval forces have increased their presence in international waters to secure naval routes and protect merchant vessels and oil tankers against pirates.
