Iran Judiciary chief Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi

Tehran (IP) - Iranian Judiciary chief and Iraqi top Judicial figure agreed on joint efforts to sue the United States in domestic and international courts for the assassination of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, Iraq's PMU deputy commander.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran Judiciary chief Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi in a phone conversation with the head of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zaidan, on Saturday referred to the US regime's official confession on the assassination of Lt. Gen Soleimani and his companions in Baghdad airport and stressed on the all-out legal prosecution to persecute the US officials.

Raisi said that the assassination of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes is against all of the international agreements and conventions.

He went on to stress that Iran and Iraq seriously demand prosecutions of perpetrators of such a crime as well as punishing them.

Since Gen. Soleimani was in a political mission in Iraq and was invited by political leaders of the country, Raeisi referred to the terrorist aspects of the US crimes and reiterated, "This, undoubtedly, is considered as an act of aggression, and violation of several principles including the ban on Use of force by states, right to exist, and the rights of those who are supported by International law."

While stressing the fact that martyrs Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, were the pioneers of fighting against terrorism as well as the liberation of Iraqi territories from ISIS occupation, Iraqi Top official declared his country's readiness to cooperate and contribute in a joint effort with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the international communities till the final results would be achieved.

Iraq’s High Judicial Council head ensured that Baghdad launched an investigation in early hours after the assassination and continues to follow.

"I assure you that from the moment of the incident, Iraq has started the required investigations and is continuing its non-stop efforts," he added.
