Tehran (IP) - An appointment ceremony for the new IRGC Quds Force commander Brigadier General Esmail Gha'ani was held on Monday.

Iran PressIran news: At the ceremony, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution's order of appointment was presented to Brigadier General Esmail Gha'ani. Also the order of appointment for the deputy commander of the IRGC Quds Force was given to Brigadier General Seyyed Mohammad Hejazi. 

Following the Martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, Iran's Leader and Commander-in-Chief issued a decree appointing Brigadier General Esmail Gha'ani to command the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC). 

Lieutenant General Soleimani was assassinated along with several senior members of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) on Friday morning 3 January at Baghdad International airport.

Lieutenant General Soleimani was the first Iranian military official to hold Iran’s highest military honour, 'the Order of Zulfiqar' after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, awarded to him by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Lieutenant General Soleimani's name appeared in the list of top Global Strategists in the defense and security field in Foreign Policy (FP) Magazine 2019.
