Iran\'s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mohammad Eslami

Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mohammad Eslami announced on Thursday the project connecting Iran's northern county of Astara, in Gilan Province to the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Baku via roads is going to be commenced in a week.

Iran PressIran news: Having traveled to Northern county of Astara, Eslami referred to the new agreement signed by the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan over Baku-Astara Highway, saying that the new bridge over Baku-Astara Highway is going to be commenced in a week so that it can get connected to Iran's internal roads.

He also stressed the fact that Iran's Northern ports have also played an important role in connecting North-South, East-West corridors. Iran's ports of Anzali and Astara 's share of Iran's transit market is significant. The 204-kilometer Baku-Astara Highway was opened in September 2018 and the two sides are after development of the mutual route.205
