Israeli Prime Minister ran off to a bomb shelter while being escorted by multiple bodyguards during an election rally in Ashdod, occupied Palestine, during a rocket attack from Gaza.

Iran Press/Middle East: Benjamin Netanyahu was rushed off stage by his security detail as the sirens sounded a little after 9 pm.

Sirens also sounded in Ashkelon and other communities close to the Gaza border shortly after 9 pm sending the residents running to their bomb shelters, NBC News reported.

Netanyahu told the audience to remain calm as he was running away.

Earlier, the Israeli army launched artillery shells into Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip.

The rocket attack was in answer to the recent ruthless and relentless attacks by the Zionist regime on the Palestinian people.

Thousands of Palestinians have been martyred and injured in Israeli attacks on the coastal enclave.

The Gaza Strip has been under an Israeli land, air and maritime siege since 2006, and its residents face many problems.
