Tehran (IP) - Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said that ECO has gained significant achievements in the cultural field beside its economic activities.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at the farewell, referral ceremony of the former and the new president of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Cultural Institute (ECI) on Wednesday, Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi said: "ECO has gained significant achievements besides economic activities like cultural activities."

Salehi stressed the importance of ECO in the region and highlighted its significant regional capacities, noting that economic cooperation will be effective if accompanied by science, culture, and education, Iran Press reported.

Cultural activities are the core of the communications of ten member states and can be invested in, the Minister highlighted.

"Culture is the main tool to connect others," Salehi added.

"The other pinpoint to consider is that if we want to have a stable and long-lasting relation, art and culture are infrastructures of it. Economic and political relationships can be improved by art and culture," he concluded.

During the farewell ceremony in Tehran, the former president of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Cultural Institute Mohammad-Mehdi Mazaheri was honored for the activities during his presidency.

Sarvar Bakhti, from Tajikistan, took the helm of ECO Cultural Institue.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi, and Turkish Ambassador to Tehran Derya Örs attended the ceremony.
