The spokesman for Judiciary and Legal Commission said that during today's parliament open session the MPs approved articles 3, 4, and 5 of Punishment discounting bill.

Iran Press/Iran news: The spokesman for Judiciary and Legal Commission, Hassan Nowrouzi said in an exclusive interview with Iran Press News Agency, "One of the new laws is the use of alternative punishments."

Another point is to reduce the punishment of those who collaborate with judiciary and law enforcement bodies or use their expertise, he added.

He also pointed to criminals that do not need to be in the prison and that they can be used outside with electronic handcuffs or other modern devices.

Pointing out that imprisonment should be some kind of restriction, not deprivation, he added, "This project is based on Islamic principles and standards of the world."
