Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev

Secretary of the Security Council of Russia said there was a lot of evidence that the United States is involved in the transfer of ISIS members to Afghanistan and in their logistic support.

Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking at the Second Regional Security Dialogue in Tehran, Nikolai Patrushev said that according to the latest estimates, there are between 2500 to 4000 ISIS terrorists in Afghanistan, adding that approximately $600 million annually are earned by the terrorists in the region through production and sale of illegal drugs.

"After nearly five years of US military presence in Afghanistan, instability, and insecurity have increased and the killing of innocent civilians is continuing," Patrushev added according to Iran Press.

The Russian official went on to say that the US has no clear plans for withdrawal from Afghanistan and there is probably confusion in the political establishment in the US about this issue.

"There must be immediate talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government to reach a national solution and to get out of the current unacceptable situation," he continued.

The Second Regional Security Dialogue got underway in Tehran on Wednesday morning.

The national security advisers and top security officials from Iran, Russia, China, India, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan have participated in the one-day meeting hosted by the secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran.

The meeting focuses on Afghanistan and the fight against terrorism in the country.
