Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Sajjadpour

On the sidelines of the 5th edition of the Mediterranean Dialogues in Rome, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Sajjadpour met and held talks with his Italian counterpart, reviewing ways to upgrade bilateral ties and the latest developments in West Asia.

Iran Press/Europe: Kazem Sajjadpour referred to Italy as the first trade partner of Iran in Europe in recent years, stressed on using opportunities and removal of the obstacles for developing relations in line with mutual interests.  

The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister described Tehran's efforts to maintain the nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and fulfill its obligations under the agreement, Iran Press reported.

"It was a bilateral agreement, and that other parties, especially Europe, are expected to live up to their commitments," he underlined.

Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Marina Sereni also highlighted the various capacities of Iran and Italy, urging for taking advantage of the capacities.

Marina Sereni once again expressed Italy's support for the JCPOA. 

Germany, Britain, and France pledged to maintain the deal after the United States unilaterally withdrew from the accord in 2018 and reimposed sanctions, but failed to take effective action. 101/207
