Professor Massoud Soleimani

Prominent Iranian scientist and stem cell researcher, Dr. Masoud Soleimani who had been imprisoned in the US, has been released and handed over to Swiss authorities.

Iran Press/Iran news: "Glad that Professor Massoud Soleimani and Mr. Xiyue Wang will be joining their families shortly," Iran's foreign minister, Mohammed Javad Zarif said on Twitter on Saturday.

"Many thanks to all engaged, particularly the Swiss government," he added according to Iran Press.

Foreign Minister Zarif has traveled to Zurich, Switzerland, to thank Swiss officials and accompany Professor Soleimani on his much-anticipated return to Iran, and to the warm embrace of his family. 

Masoud Soleimani, a biology Professor at Tarbiat Modares University was detained in the United States by the FBI, on 7 October 2018.

The US accused Soleimani of violating sanctions against Iran by attempting to export biological materials in the form of human growth hormone without authorization. 101/211
