Tehran (IP) - The head of Masih Daneshvari Hospital has noted that a glance at Iranian medical texts of past centuries reveals that Iran was, and still is, the most advanced country in West Asia in the science of anaesthesia.

Iran Press/Iran news: On the sideline of Second International Congress on Cardiac Anaesthesia held at Razi Conference Hall- Tehran, Ali Akbar Velayati in an interview with Iran Press stated that a glance at Iranian medical texts of past centuries reveals that Iran is a leading country in anaesthesia in West Asia.

He added, fortunately, with advances in the science of General anaesthesia, particularly in Cardiac anaesthesia (used to induce unconsciousness in patients before heart surgery) a lot has been added to our knowledge which is evolving and advancing all the time.

Velayati reiterated, "At Masih Daneshvari Hospital with Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) our colleagues succeeded in saving many patients suffering from cardiovascular and respiratory diseases and even those patients diagnosed with influenza." 101/211
