Hafez Mausoleum in Shiraz hosted a major ceremony with the participation of prominent Iranian and German literature scholars.

Iran Press/Iran News: Hafez Mausoleum in Shirazi hosted a major ceremony with the participation of prominent Iranian and German literature scholars.

The event titled ' Germany Cultural Week in Iran' was organized to present the strong emotional bond between the famous German poet Goethe with Iran's renowned poet Hafez, Iran Press reported.

Two centuries ago, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was impressed by Hafez's poems through his friendship with an Austrian orientalist who translated the Divan of Hafez into Gerrman. By reading of the Divan, Goethe decided to write "West-East Divan" at the age of 75, which contains his poems under the influence of Hafez's poetry.

In this ceremony, the ambassador of Germany to Tehran called Hafez as a grandeur poet who broke the intellectual frameworks and dominated freethought over narrow-mindedness.

He dedicated his life for peace and friendship beyond the geographical borders and time, with poetic discourse.

Music performances, film screenings, and displaying of Goethe's works were among the programs held at the German Cultural Week in Shiraz.
