Caspian Sea littoral states have committed to boosting naval cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding in Saint Petersburg on Friday.

Iran Press/Europe: Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi and his counterparts from Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan signed a deal that mainly focuses on security, training, technical, rescue, and relief cooperation.

The Iranian Navy Commander held separate meetings with Russian, Azeri and Kazakh counterparts on the sidelines of a meeting of the Caspian Sea littoral states' navy commanders.

In relevant remarks earlier this week, Rear Admiral Khanzadi said that Iran and Russia are planning to hold joint naval drills in the near future.
