Bandar Abbas (IP) - The British-flagged Stena Impero oil tanker which was seized by Iran in July left the country on Friday morning.

Iran Press/Iran news: The British-flagged Stena Impero oil tanker left Bandar Abbas port on Friday morning.

According to Iran Press, Director-General of Ports and Maritime Affairs Organization of Homuzgan province, Allah-Morad Afifipour announced the release of British oil tanker through a statement but emphasized that the judicial procedure is still open.

According to the statement, the British-flagged Stena Impero started his way from Bandar Abbas port toward Persian Gulf International Maritime Traffic Corridor at 7 am on Friday.

The statement also says that the commander and crew of the vessel have said in a written commitment that they have no claim.

Director-General of Ports and Maritime Affairs Organization also has said that all the ship's crew are in good health.

On 19 July, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the British oil tanker Stena Impero has been impounded near the Strait of Hormuz.

The tanker was moving the wrong way, trying to enter the Strait of Hormuz in waters normally used by ships and tankers exiting the strait.

Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization said the British tanker had endangered the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz by failing to abide by international maritime law and regulations in the waterway.
