Mnuchin claims that EU follows Washington over JCPOA

US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin allegedly claimed on Wednesday that the European officials have assured the US they would not take any measure against anti-Iran sanctions.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at the joint news conference with US Secretary Mike Pompeo, and the US President Donald Trump, Mnuchin went on to say that the US officials during recent months have been holding extensive talks with the European officials over anti-Iran sanctions and the US-led policy of 'Maximum pressure ' against Iran.

In his turn, Pompeo said in the news conference that the European countries are accompanying Washington.

As a matter of fact, the United States of America after withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive plan of action (JCPOA) have orchestrated an all-out challenge in form of maximum Pressure policy against Iran.

Iran and three European countries − Britain, France, and Germany − have been engaged in talks to reduce tensions and rescue the multi-party deal, which has been unraveling since the US withdrew in May last year.

Earlier on September 5, Iranian President said that Iran’s third step to scale down its commitments to the JCPOA will give a special boost to the activities of the country’s nuclear energy organization, with its peaceful civilian nuclear research and development no longer restricted.

Then Iran details its latest cut to commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal on Saturday, September 6,  in response to US sanctions and obvious inaction by other parties to save the accord.
