Iran Press/Iran news: Tasu'a processions are held a day before the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH), the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and the third Imam of Shi'a Muslims.
Many of the followers of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his creed in Rasht congregate together in mosques and streets for chest-beating and mourning, expressing their love and devotion to the Third Shi'a Imam.

Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar. The Shi'a Muslims commemorate the Battle of Karbala and consider this a month of sadness and mourning. 205/208
