US sanctions on Iran Space prog. against states space operations principles: Iran UN envoy

Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the Vienna-based international organizations said in a twitter message that the US sanctions on Iran Space Agency are against the principles of states' operation in the outer atmosphere.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a hostile action the US Department of Treasury targeted the Iran Space Agency, the Iran Space Research Center and the Astronautics Research Institute, according to a statement on its website.

Meanwhile, Iran Space Agency in a statement on Wednesday stressed that the continuous US hostile acts will not harm Iran's space programs.

"Imposing sanctions on Iran's Space program by the US is in clear conflict with the international law, also international treaties and conventions on the peaceful and non-discriminatory use of space by states," the statement adds.

As one of the few countries in the region with the long-time experience of working on space programs, Iran has started and worked on this technology field since 1958 and have been one of the pioneers in UN Committee on the Peaceful Use of Space.

With all limitations and by relying on the native power, creative youth and young specialists, Iran has reached the complete cycle of space technology with the 'We Can' slogan.
