Tabriz (IP) - Major investors in Iran's carpet industry announced that the world's biggest carpet, woven in Tabriz city, East Azerbaijan province in northwestern Iran, were put on the record of Guinness before Iranian President.

Iran Press/Iran news: "230 carpet weaver, day and night for 7 years participated in weaving this huge carpet," One of the major producers and investors involved in carpet industry Ahad Azimzade said in an exclusive interview with Iran Press.

Noting that more investment is needed to boost the carpet industry in Iran, Azimzade stressed that he would never invest in a country but Iran.

Talking at the sideline of the international carpet exhibition underway in Tabriz, Azimzade added that roughly 7-8 million individuals are active in this field while the industry can create job opportunities for many others and bring more money in Iran.

Highlighting that the carpet industry is rooted in Iran's culture, he stressed that Iran carpet which enjoys the finest quality is priceless and unique like the Swiss hand- made watches, which are famous around the world.

Tabriz, the biggest hub of hand weaved carpets in the globe hosting many journalists and reporters from Iran and some other countries.

Iran president Hassan Rouhani inaugurated handwoven carpet exhibition which is underway from July 31 till August 4. 203/208
