The Commander of the Iran Border Police described security situations in shared borders and said the relations between Iran’s border guards and their Pakistani and Turkish counterparts have increased significantly.

Iran Press/Iran news: Brigadier General Ghasem Rezaei, noted insecurity in Pakistani Baluchistan in past years and its impact on the neighboring Iran's southeast borders and said: "After the Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's recent visit to Iran and Pakistani Army troops deployment in the border areas with Iran, security on the shared border has improved.

"With fence walls build across the borders of Pakistan in the Iranian Sistan and Baluchistan province to stop the movements of the terrorists and armed gangs, we hope that there would be more security on the borders," The Iranian border police commander said in a news conference, Mehr News Agency reported.

About security situation in shared borders with Afghanistan, Brigadier General Rezaei said: There is good cooperation between Afghan and Iranian border guards despite the attempts of the Global Arrogance to dispatch terrorist inside Iran from the shared borders.

General Ghasem Rezaei on the shared borders with Turkey, said that the cooperation between the forces of the two neighboring countries has increased since last year.

Iranian Border Police Commander added: "Smuggling of alcoholic drinks and arms trafficking has reduced to a considerable extent compared to past years.

Rezaei expressed the cooperation between border guards of Iranian provinces of Kermanshah, Ilam and Khuzestan with the Iraqi side as 'favourable level' in relation to the issue of pilgrims.

In relation to the Khosravi border crossing in Iranian Kermanhsah province with Iraqi Diyala, Iranian border police commander said the reopening of Khosravi border gate has been postponed due to security issues on the Iraqi side of the border.

Brigadier General Rezaei further criticized the Kurdistan Regional Government’s loose security which allows smuggling of illegal goods and alcoholic drinks into Iran, expressing hope that the Kurdish side of the borders takes the border security more seriously with deploying more border guards and through joint security meetings between the officials of the two sides the problems would be solved.

The commander rejected reports of foreign media accusing the Iranian border guards of killing border carriers at the shared borders with the Kurdistan region, saying that armed gangs and illegal border carriers cross the borders illegally at night and smuggle all kinds of illegal goods such as weapons into the country.105/205
