Sarajevo (IP)- On the occasion of Hafez Day, October 12, a meeting was held to honor the Iranian poet at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo.

Iran PressEurope: The meeting was titled 'The European Paths of Hafez Shirazi, a Persian-Speaking Poet'.

The specialized and cultural meeting was held on Thursday with the participation of professors from various departments of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo.

The influence of Hafez, the legendary Persian poet, on the literature of various European countries, such as Britain, Germany, the Balkans, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been extensively investigated in the meeting.

Attending the meeting to honor Hafez, Iranian ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Abuzar Ebrahimi Torkman said: "Hafez's poetry is taken from Hafez's heart, and Hafez's heart is devoted to the Quran."

He refers to this issue in Divan, meaning he was a Quran Hafiz, Added Torkman.

Hafiz, literally meaning "protector", is a term used by Muslims for someone who has completely memorized the Quran.

The Divān of Hafez is a collection of poems written by the Iranian poet Hafez. Most of these poems are in Persian.

Torkman briefly mentioned the differences between Hafez's and Saadi's poetry and added that Hafez has made a plan for humanity's life and the hereafter.

Iran's cultural attache to Sarajevo Mohammad Hossein Ansari also said: "Sarajevo is perhaps one of the few places in the world that can study and research an oriental poet like Hafez with the presence of professors from different languages."

Shahab Yar Khan, a professor at the University of Bosnia and Herzegovina, also discussed the impact of Hafez's poetry on British literature, especially Shakespeare's works.

Nasser Shechrovic, another professor at the University of Bosnia and Herzegovina, also titled the 'conversation between Goethe and Hafez' as the subject of his speech at the Hafez commemoration meeting on Thursday, discussing the spiritual connection between Goethe and Hafez.

 Saad Shamsovic, another speaker at the Hafez commemoration meeting, discussed the impact of Hafez's poetry on South Slavic literature and the Balkan region.Slavic literature or Slavonic literature refers to the literature in any of the Slavic languages: Belarusian literature.

Persian literature in Bosnia-Herzegovina has historical and popular roots and 22 poets have written poems in the Persian language in the last five centuries.
