Tehran (IP) - The governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) said that because of the pressure that the United States has exerted on various European banks, they are afraid of working with Iran.

Iran PressIran news: Abdol-Naser Hemmati stressed that although the use of the corona vaccine is known, the destination bank is willing to accept the money if a special license is issued by the United States.

"But the Trump administration, in line with its policy of maximum pressure, or in other words, maximum coercion and unilateralism, has violated all the rules of international law, one of which is the embargo on the entire Iranian financial system and all Iranian banks," Hemmati added.

Hemmati pointed out that the destination bank is willing to receive money for the purchase of the corona vaccine if a special and occasional license is issued by the United States and all the steps of money transfer are explicitly mentioned in it.

"Now, the license that has been issued is to convert Iranian Won resources in South Korean banks into US dollars through an American bank and then transfer it to the destination bank," he said.

Hemmati added that there is no guarantee that the money will reach its destination in this license, adding that the Americans have explicitly stated that they can revoke the license they have issued at any time and at any stage.

Hemmati dismissed the US claim as false, stressing that Washington had tried to obtain the license in such a way that it was one of the most inoperable channels and ultimately failed to buy the vaccine, but ostensibly said it had not created a problem.

The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran recently had announced: "Since the purchase of the corona vaccine (covax) must be done through the official channel of the World Health Organization, so far anyway to pay and transfer the required currency, due to inhumane sanctions by the US government and the need to obtain OFAC license faced with an obstacle."
