Iran Press/ Iran news: The opening ceremony of this tournament was held in the form of a webinar at the University Sports Federation.
The third round of the Asian and Pacific student chess championship is underway online for 14 days, with the participation of China, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Mongolia, Singapore, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Iran.
Iranian students won the championship in this year's world chess competitions and have a chance to win a medal again.
Hadi Bashirian, the head of the university sports federation, in an exclusive interview with Iran Press about these competitions, said: "After hosting the first round successfully by Iran, the officials of the confederation have given the hosting to Iran again."
This official added: "The national chess team of Iranian students will have a chance to win a medal in this tournament. The head of the University Sports Federation stated that chess is a university field and the athletes of this field will be supported and even a league is going to be held in this field.
Tanaz Azli, a member of the national chess team of Iranian students, in an exclusive interview with Iran Press, said: "The level of this tournament is high due to the presence of Indian and Chinese teams, but Iran will face the opponents with strength."
