Iran Press/ Asia: Speaking at a meeting with the Minister of Railways of Pakistan Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Tuesday, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Islamabad Mohammad-Ali Hosseini emphasized the need to implement previous agreements on rail cooperation between the two countries, especially on the Quetta-Taftan-Zahedan route and called for an increase in the fleet capacity in terms of a number of trains.
Hosseini considered the acceleration of the implementation of the container train of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) inevitable and added: "Utilizing the capacity of China in upgrading the railway fleet of Iran and Pakistan through trilateral cooperation between Tehran-Islamabad and Beijing is important."
During the meeting, the Minister of Railways of Pakistan, emphasized the efforts of the Pakistani government to strengthen bilateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and boost cooperation, especially in the field of rail transport, saying: "Completion of the Quetta-Taftan railway will expand trading and would ease the commute of the people of the two countries."
During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Railways of Pakistan in Islamabad, the two sides stressed the need to develop relations between the two countries, especially in the field of rail transport amid the outbreak of coronavirus by observing the principles of quarantine and health protocols. 207/214
