Iran Press/Asia: Mohammad Keshavarzzadeh, Iran's ambassador to Beijing, tweeted in Chinese on Thursday, referring to the US move to close the Chinese consulate in Houston: "A country that claims to be the savior of the world is actually fomenting chaos in the world."
Keshavarzadeh added: "The United States has removed the mask of peace by unilaterally withdrawing from JCPOA and applying the policy of maximum pressure against Iran, invading Iraq on baseless allegations, imposing war on Afghanistan and trade war and all-out pressure on China."
Continuing US efforts to increase pressure on China, Washington yesterday called on Beijing to close its consulate in Houston, Texas, within the next 72 hours.
