Iran ambassador to Tblisi US intervention in Iran Georgia relations unacceptable

The Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia, in a meeting with the President of this country, stressed the need to pay attention to mutual interests and prevent US interference in the relations between the two countries.

Iran Press/AsiaThe Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Georgia, Javad Ghavam Shahidi, met with the President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, in Tbilisi on Wednesday, referring to the common culture, history, and civilization of Iran and Georgia.

He also highlighted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been a supporter of the government and people of Georgia in various economic, political, and international fields.

Emphasizing the need to pay attention to the mutual interests of Iran and Georgia, Ghavam Shahidi added: "Iran supports the independence and territorial integrity of Georgia and considers any interference in the affairs between Iran and Georgia to be against the interests of the two countries."

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Georgia, referring to the problems that have arisen for Iranian citizens, regarding the extension of residence permit, damage to their assets and the ban on the import and transportation of goods to Georgia, called for immediate follow-up and resolution of these problems by Georgian authorities.

On the same day, Javad Ghavam Shahidi, during a meeting with Georgia's attorney general Irakli Shotadze, praised the role of the Georgian Prosecutor General in the process of transferring Iranian prisoners to the country and said that Judiciary, extradition, and transfer of convicts between the two countries, as well as the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the fight against narcotics, are essential.
