Iran Press/ Middle East: At an emergency videoconference for Arab foreign ministers upon Egypt's request to address the recently escalating tensions in Libya, Abul Gheit stressed that no military choice will achieve peace and stability in the war-torn country or would achieve victory for any party, reported by Xinhua.
He called for preserving the unity and independence of Libya, noting that any foreign intervention would divide the country and will break the unity of the country.
The main objective of the meeting should be seeking "stopping the fight, reducing the dangerous military field escalations, reaching an immediate truce at all fighting lines, especially around Sirte," he added.
Any arrangements for a ceasefire wouldn't stand for long unless accompanied by kicking the foreign fighters and mercenaries out, dismantling the military militia, added the body chairman.
On Monday, the Arab League also hosted a virtual meeting by the International Follow Up Committee on Libya that called for ending hostilities in Libya.
The scheduled meetings came after Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Saturday that "Cairo has a legitimate right to intervene in the neighboring country to restore security and stability."
