Tehran (IP) - In a discourse at the "Human Rights in the World, Iran and the City" meeting hosted by Tehran University, Saeedreza Ameli, a member of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, dissected the roots of the ongoing crimes in Gaza, attributing them to the United States' distinctive approach to human rights.

Iran PressIran news: Ameli, who also serves as the head of Tehran University's Faculty of World Studies, expressed his concern over the American perspective on human rights, characterizing it as inherently relative. According to him, the U.S. framework lacks a comprehensive oversight mechanism, displaying a marked exceptionalism that grants the nation a degree of self-exemption from established rules.

"In this way, America exempts itself from the rules," remarked Ameli during his address, emphasizing that such an exceptionalist stance not only justifies wars but also encourages support for conflicts. The speaker further delved into America's utilization of sanctions, stating that the mechanism infringes upon the rights of individuals rather than governments.

Titled "Human rights in the world, Iran and the city," the conference scrutinized critical challenges in the realm of human rights at the international, national, and urban levels through three dedicated panels.

Amidst this critical examination of America's human rights discourse, Ameli pointed to the dire situation in Gaza as a stark illustration of the chaotic state of affairs in today's human rights landscape.
