Trump officially becomes Republican nominee in 2020 presidential election

US President Donald Trump has received enough votes to secure the GOP nomination for a second term as president.

Iran PressAmerica: President Trump has received enough votes during the roll call of states to secure the GOP nomination for a second term as president. Republicans began convention proceedings Monday morning in Charlotte. Earlier, Vice President Pence was renominated by acclamation and stopped by the convention center to deliver brief remarks to the delegates.

Prime-time speakers on the first day — appearing from multiple locations — include members of Congress who have been loyal to the president and the first among family members being given high-profile spots throughout the week. Trump is also expected to make an appearance of some sort on each of the four nights.
