Opponents to racism in the United States gathered in front of the White House in Washington, DC on Thursday.

Iran Press/America: Anti-racism protesters chanted slogans against US police violence and racism.

Demonstrators from several anti-racism groups, including the Black Lifes Matter, went nine minutes of silence in honor of George Floyd.

The protesters then marched in the streets, calling for the police defund.

George Floyd, 46, an unarmed black man, died after being pinned down by Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, as he was being arrested in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 25 after reportedly attempting to use a counterfeit $20 bill at a local store.

His death has prompted largely peaceful mass demonstrations that have continued more than two weeks across the US, though some have devolved into violence and looting.
