America (IP)- Iran's permanent representative to the United Nations called the plan to annex the occupied Palestinian territories to the occupying regime in al-Quds contrary to international law and said that the United States, with its continued support for the regime, has rendered the Security Council ineffective.

Iran PressAmerica: Speaking at UN Security Council meeting on Palestine on Wednesday Majid Takht-e Ravanchi said that while the occupation of Palestine was the main cause of the West Asian crisis, the Israeli regime was implementing a plan to annex certain parts of the occupied Palestinian territory will open, a new chapter in the continuation of repression and crimes. 

Takht-e Ravanchi continued: "Such a developmental policy will complicate the dire situation in West Asia, which will have far-reaching consequences for regional and international peace and security."

Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations stated: "US support for the Zionist regime has led the regime to commit more crimes and atrocities with full immunity, with living examples of continued construction and expansion of settlements, permanent inhumane siege of the Gaza Strip and repeated violations of the sovereignty of Syria and Lebanon is in stark contrast to the UN Charter and international law.

Majid Takht-e Ravanchi stressed that the Israeli regime must be forced to end its brutal siege of Gaza and end all its destabilizing activities as well as ending the occupation of all Palestinian territories, the occupied Syrian Golan and parts of Lebanon, and end more than a decade of occupation.

Takht-e Ravanchi added: "The United Nations must fulfill its responsibilities in realizing the inherent right of the Palestinians to determine the fate and establishment of an independent Palestinian state throughout Palestine with the capital Quds Sharif."

"In this regard, the Security Council must act in accordance with its obligations to prevent the occurrence of crimes and threats by the Israeli regime, and in practice to protect the full realization of the undeniable rights of the Palestinian people," he concluded.
