As tensions between Washington and Beijing escalate, the US Secretary of State spoke with a senior Chinese government official at an airbase in Hawaii addressing bilateral issues.

Iran Press/America: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with  Yang Jiechi, a government adviser and member of the Chinese Communist Party's political bureau on Wednesday 17 June in Honolulu at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. The State Department and China have not yet commented on the details of the meeting. 

In recent days and weeks, Pompeo has repeatedly accused China of not being transparent about the coronavirus.

The US President Donald Trump also recently announced retaliatory measures against China, blaming China for imposing a controversial Hong Kong law.

Following Pompeo's recent remarks against China, the Chinese state media also referred to the US Secretary of State as "Satan," "Crazy," and "Human Enemy."

The Chinese Foreign Ministry recently while criticizing Washington's recent decision to cancel all special trade and travel concessions for Hong Kong and taking measures against students and Chinese companies stated that it would take decisive retaliatory measures against such US actions.
