Tehran (IP) – Five perpetrators of the assassination of Sajjad Shahraki, a Shia cleric and Friday prayer leader of a mosque in Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, southeastern Iran, have been arrested.

Iran PressIran News: Iran's Intelligence Ministry issued a statement on Saturday, announcing that intelligence forces arrested five perpetrators linked to the martyrdom of Sajjad Shahraki.

They also confessed that they intended to continue terrorist acts against Shia and Sunni figures and sensitive places in Sistan and Baluchestan Province to create a bipolar atmosphere and wage religious warfare.

Earlier on November 3, the unidentified armed men killed a Shia cleric in charge of daily prayers at a mosque in Iran's Zahedan, Sistan and Baluchestan Province.

Cleric Shahraki had been shot in the head and chest and had succumbed to his wounds despite being transferred to the hospital.
