Iran's 17-year-old Iranian sports girl has gained silver medal in 2019 World Taekwondo Championships in Manchester.

Iran Press/Iran news: Over to martial arts, where 17-year-old Iranian sensation, Mahla Momenzadeh, has become the 2nd Iranian female world medal winner, after finishing runner-up in the finweight category of the 2019 Manchester World Taekwondo Championships.

Despite her valiant efforts, the Iranian teenager succumbed 11-6 to reigning champion Jae-Young Sim of South Korea, in the final of the minus 46 kg category on Thursday, Press TV reported.

Momenzadeh had earlier dispatched opponents from China, Croatia, Russia, the UK and Kazakhstan, on her way to the final, mounting some dramatic comebacks in some of her bouts. However, she was not the only Iranian to win a medal on the 2nd day of the tournament, as Armin Hadipour settled for bronze in the Men’s minus 54 kg Class, after falling to Georgy Popov of Russia in the Semifinals. He had earlier seen off rivals from Niger, Moldova and Thailand.

The 24th edition of the World Games will run until May 19th in Manchester, with the Iranian team consisting of 6 women and 8 men. 101/203
