Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, has emphasized that flood-damaged areas will be rebuilt, and this time much better than before.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Hassan Rouhani said: “The government will work hard to repair the damage caused by floods, and we will rebuild the destruction caused by floods better than before by joining hands.”

Iranian President also went on to say: “Reconstructions in the flood-hit areas will begin today under the supervision of the interior minister,” Iran Press reported.

The President referred to the restoration of Lake Urmia, adding, “This means that the lives of 15 million people are saved because if the lake dried out, the entire north-western region of the country would be affected by salt dust.”

Appreciating the hard work of executive bodies during the floods, he said, “Some of the work that was done by executive bodies was unprecedented in the world.”

Rouhani went on to appreciate the Leader of the Islamic Revolution's positive response to the government request for using credits from the National Development Fund to repair flood damage.

“Very good work has been done by the first vice-president, interior ministry and other bodies for preparing a preliminary estimate of the total damage caused by floods,” he said.

President Rouhani added: “Some departments such as ministries of Roads and Urban Development, Interior, Energy, Agriculture Jihad, Foreign Affairs, and Petroleum have done a great job.”

Stating that Iran’s floods was the worst historic test for US administration, he said, “The US leadership showed its true nature. If they were wise, they would have announced that they would suspend sanctions because of the floods. Then the people may have believed that they were not against the people of Iran.”

“If the US did such a thing, it would be proved that what we said about the United States’ malignancy and hostility towards the Iranian nation, but they did not let other people around the world to send their aid to Iran,” said the President.

He continued, “The recent floods and the hard work of the government and the armed forces to help people, and the people helping each other, as well as the US’ reaction, proved that we need to stand on our own feet for solving the problems and turning them into opportunities.” 101/211/201
