Iran Press/Iran news: In the letter, dated September 1 and addressed to president Hassan Rouhani, Iran’s minister of roads and urban development, Abbas Akhoundi announced his resignation and asked the president to accept his decision. President Rouhani has so far not accepted the resignation, and Abbas Akhoundi remains the minister for roads and urban development, according to a Tasnim News Agency report.
Rouhani administration plans to introduce to parliament its' candidates for the position and two other vacant ministries on Sunday.
Iranian parliament has impeached Akhoundi two times so far.
The main reason behind his first impeachment was what the MPs called weak performance that led to the tragic train crash in November 2016, killed 45 passengers and wounded dozens of others.
His second impeachment was tendered to the parliament after an Iranian airliner crashed in the country in February 2018.
