Tehran (IP) - A member of Iran's Parliament presiding board said that improvising geographical limitations for Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in New York is an act against international norms.

Iran Press/ Iran News: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press news agency, Mohammad Ali Vakili said that the US violates the principles of the UN host country, as it has already done over other issues such as imposing sanctions against Iran despite the Iran's Nuclear Deal (2015) known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which the US was also one of its signatories along with Iran and the former P5+1 group.

He said that the limitation imposed on Iranian officials by the US in New York, is basically against the international laws.

"The US refusal to allow Iran's Foreign Minister to visit Iranian ambassador Majid Takht Ravanchi indicates the peak of inhumane and immoral behavior of the US government" Vakili said, adding that nowhere in the world such a behavior has been experienced historically.

Iranian envoy to UN Majid Takht Ravanchi is hospitalized in Manhattan of US, receiving treatment for his cancer.

A US State Department official attached strings to Zarif's request, saying his request would be granted if Iran released one of several American citizens detained in the country.
