Iraqi President in his meeting with Iranian counterpart emphasized on improving bilateral ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Iran Press/Iran newsBarham Salih in his meeting with Iranian FM Mohammad Javad Zarif  Saturday evening stressed on the need to increase security cooperation between Iran and Iraq to defuse the current tensions and increase regional stability, Iran Press reported.

Salih said boosting relations with Iran and other Islamic states is the best way for reinforcing the stability in the region and establishing balanced ties between the regional countries, especially the neighbors.

"Extending cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad is in Tehran's favors, and Iran will support Iraq in all field," Zarif said for his part.

Two officials also reviewed the latest regional developments and stressed finding a constructive solution to the regional issues.

Zarif also donated Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's formal invitation to Braham Salih for a near future trip to Tehran, which was welcomed by Iraqi President. 

Among other issues being talked in the meeting were the need for efforts to avoid conflicts and also to prevent increasing tensions in the region, the need for talks to strengthen peace basis and also preserving the region from disadvantages of the sanctions.
