US president claimed that 'Iran made a very big mistake' by shooting down the US drone in the Persian Gulf.

Iran pressAmerica: Donald Trump and his aides were confronting dramatically increased tensions with Iran on Thursday after the downing of a US drone in the Persian Gulf.

"Iran made a very big mistake!" the President tweeted mid-morning as he and his national security officials huddled to weigh possible responses, CNN reported.

IRGC has shot down a US RQ-4 spy drone close to the Iranian province of Hormozgan in Persian Gulf Shores on Thursday.

An unknown source with knowledge about the case said on Thursday that Iran in a letter to the United Nation will complain against the violation of its airspace and territory by US surveillance drone, Iran Press reported citing IRIB news agency.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Thursday slammed the recent US violation of the Iranian airspace, saying Iran will zealously defend its skies, land, and waters.

Also, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi reacted to the shooting down of a US surveillance drone flying over Iran’s southern skies, voicing the country’s “strong protest to such aggressive and provocative measures.”
