  • Unjustified trial of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky under Saudi Arabia's pressure

Nigerian police forces have transferred Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky to an unjustified trial.

The government of Nigeria, or more properly, President Muhamadu Buhari, who under the influence of Saudi Arabia and in violation of the orders of the Nigerian Federal Court has continued to keep the venerable leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem az-Zakzaki, in prison, along with his wife and several followers since the December 15, 2015, ought to free him.

The officials of Islamic Movement in Nigeria said on Tuesday that Nigerian police forces have transferred Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky to the court of Kaduna over the pious accusation of murder.

"A few days ago Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky informed his son in a telephone conversation that he has received a court summon in which Sheikh has been convicted with murder", the officials of Islamic Movement in Nigeria noted.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky has rejected the accusations.

Security measures has been put in place till last night around the place in which Sheikh is in detention.

Transferring Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky to an unjustified trial came amid yesterday's Nigerian police attacked on Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky supporters in Abuja, the capital.


Zakzaky lost his left eye sight in the raid, which was carried out by the Nigerian army on his residence in the Northern town of Zaria back in December 2015.

During the raid, Zakzaky’s wife sustained serious wounds too and more than 300 of his followers and three of his sons were killed. Zakzaky, his wife, and a large number of the cleric’s followers have since been in custody.

The clergyman is said to have been charged with “criminal conspiracy and inciting public disturbances."

The Islamic Movement do hereby unequivocally call on the federal government to listen to the voice of reason and release Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.
