Iran Press/Iran News: The farewell ceremony of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and his martyred companions is underway in Tehran; one of the world's largest funeral processions with the attendance of millions of people packed streets of Tehran to pay homage to the beloved General.
Major mainstream media, TV networks, and news agencies are surprised by the presence of millions of Iranian people, switching from their routine programs to the live coverage of the funeral processions in Tehran.
Reuters, CNN, Al Jazeera, AFP, CGTN, RT were among the media that had live coverage of the funeral processions.
Reuters compared the people’s presence in Tehran on Monday to the historic presence of Iranians in the funeral processions of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini (RH).
Al Jazeera expert said that Iranians’ reaction to the assassination of Lieutenant-General Qasem Soleimani was ‘Ashouraei’.
BBC reported that huge crowds packed the streets of the Iranian capital Tehran for the funeral of Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani, saying that millions have attended the funeral.
RT reported that the funeral is the largest since Ayatollah Khomeini’s funeral.
RT Arabic said the huge crowd, extended kilometers around Tehran University, is the largest funeral procession in history.
The massive presence of people packed the Enghelab street from Imam Hussein Square to Azadi Square with an 11 km distance.
Al Jazeera said that the people in Tehran paid tribute to martyr Qasem Soleimani, adding that revenge by Iran is possible after the funeral.

A New York Times reporter in Tehran at the funeral of Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani has said that she has never seen such a large crowd during her work in Tehran.
The burial ceremony of this great commander of IRGC Quds Forces is scheduled to be held in Kerman on Tuesday.
