Tehran (IP) - The Spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the world's general public would never be deceived by the US political shows.

Iran PressIran news: Reacting to the interventionist comments by the US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Iran MFA spokesman Nasser Kanani said that the US record indicated that it has been exploiting human rights with a double standard approach.

Following the cancelation of Iran's membership in the UN Commission on Women, the US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan called the action a historic one and said the vote was another sign of the growing international consensus against Iran and the demand for its accountability.

Kanani called Sullivan's comments the confirmation of the US support for the recent unrest in Iran under the cover of defending human rights, women, and prisoners.

He said: "To prove the US lying and politicized gestures of human rights, it is enough to say that during four decades of the American maximum pressure and unilateral sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran and they never cared about the wide inhuman dimensions and consequences of these sanctions on the Iranian people's lives, health, jobs, livelihood and security."

"They imposed cruel and, in their own words, paralyzing sanctions on all Iranian people, including Iranian children, women, girls and mothers," he noted.

On Wednesday, The 54-member UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) voted on a US-drafted resolution to cancel Iran's membership in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women for the remainder of its 2022-2026 term.
