Iran Press/ Iran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press News Agency, Aikawa Kazutoshi clarified the possible grounds of cooperation between Iran and Japan and said: "Iran has huge potential, educated people and many natural sources that create lots of opportunities for more cooperation."
Right now, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), sanctions and the COVID-19 pandemic has created some challenges in Iran-Japan cooperation, but we can address those barriers together, he added.
"We do hope the JCPOA to be restored as soon as possible," the envoy noted.
He went on to say that Japan and Iran are responsible for regional security so with huge cooperation they can make progress on that.
Referring to the recent trip of the Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi to Iran, Aikawa Kazutosho said that Motegi has met Iranian officials to discuss very important regional issues namely Afghanistan, JCPOA, and COVID-19 to improve the situation.
