Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, Velayati made the comment in a meeting on Saturday with a Palestinian parliamentary delegation in Tehran, led by Mahmoud al-Zahar, the co-founder and member of the Hamas leadership in Gaza.
In further comments Ali Akbar Velayati emphasised the need to support the Palestinian struggle, and the need to resist the Zionists, congratulating the Palestinian delegation on the victories already achieved against the Israeli regime. Velayati said the axis of resistance is becoming stronger by the day.
At the meeting, the head of the Palestinain parliamentary delegation, Mahmoud al-Zahar praised Iran for supporting Palestine.
Zahar then praised Iran’s opposition to the resolutions that the US proposes against Palestine in the United Nations.
Also on December 22, the speaker of Iran's parliament, Ali Larijani met with Mahmoud al-Zahar and has stressed the need for publicizing Israeli crimes, and supporting the cause of Palestine.

Gaza has been under a crippling Israeli-imposed siege since 2007 and witnessed three wars since 2008. It has also witnessed a fresh wave of tensions since 30 March 2018, which marked the start of 'The Great March of Return' protests.
