US maximum pressure is state terrorism: Iran

Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations called the US maximum pressure an example of state terrorism and said that the policy was designed to create suffering and social unrest with the aim of changing the regime.

Iran Press/America: "The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns terrorism in all its forms, including state terrorism and economic and medical terrorism," said Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, at a meeting of the Sixth Committee of the UN General Assembly on Thursday evening and added: "To eradicate terrorism, once and for all, there is no choice but to use power and a multilateral approach and ensure close cooperation and coordination between the relevant stakeholders at the national, regional and international levels."

Iran's representative to the United Nations continued: "The fight against terrorism must also be carried out in accordance with the UN Charter and respect for international and humanitarian law."

"Assassination of nations has been and is a great global challenge for the international community because it takes the lives of many innocent people and at the same time leads to devastating consequences for the stability and security of nations," Takht-Ravanchi said.

"The pandemic of Covid-19 has changed the health of many communities. Imposing US laws and regulations with extraterritorial influence on my country (Iran) and other countries is tantamount to terrorism, which has exacerbated general health conditions during the Corona pandemic," he said.

In addition to economic terrorism, Takht-Ravanchi called the brutal and cowardly assassination of Major General Qasem Soleimani, the hero of the fight against terrorists in the region, another clear example of the US state terrorism.

"It is a proven fact that the United States is spreading terrorism not only in the region but almost everywhere in the world," he concluded.
