Finally, after months of controversial debates over the election of the new American president, the election day in the US arrived and people went to polls to cast their ballots, yet under strict security measures.

Iran Press/America: Today, in addition to electing the next president and his deputy, all the members of the House of Representatives, one-third of the members of the Senate, and a number of governors and members of state assemblies, along with some local officials, are elected.

Currently, the US political and security authorities are worried that if Trump loses again in the 2024 election and the Republican candidate refuses to accept the results, then the US will once get into chaos.

The 2024 election is considered one of the most competitive elections of the US in recent decades, so it is expected that the introduction of the next American president will be followed by challenges.

The issue has caused the security authorities in some important areas of the country, especially in Washington DC, the capital, and around the White House and Congress buildings, to practice strict security measures such as the installation of shields.

The most important part of the 2024 US elections is the election of the next president of the country, who will be in charge of American affairs from January 20 next year.

Still, there are signs indicating that the 2024 US elections, like the 2020 elections, will lead to chaos and riots.

It was on January 6, 2021, when the supporters of Donald Trump, the then-president of the United States and the defeated candidate of the Republican Party, occupied Capitol Hill for several hours in an unprecedented protest of the election results; 5 people were killed that day.

Therefore, the US authorities worry that if Trump is defeated again in the 2024 presidential election the country again turns into a scene of bloody violence.

Furthermore, the procrastination of the vote-counting process is not far beyond expectation due to the close competition between Harris and Trump, which would pave the way for dissatisfaction and street unrest.

Four years ago, Trump's supporters deemed the prolonged vote-counting in some states an attempt by Democrats to rig the election. The status is expected to be repeated particularly with respect to the extreme rhetoric exchanged between the two candidates.

So, the 2024 US presidential election is not expected to reach a happy away from violence with serious doubts about the smooth transition of power from the current administration to the next, no matter whether Democrat Harris or Republican Trump.
