The majority of members of the British House of Commons opposed the plan of the National Party of Scotland, which requested a ceasefire in Gaza.

Iran PressEurope: The UK parliament on Wednesday voted against a motion calling for an “immediate” cease-fire in Gaza. The British parliament members also opposed the provision of humanitarian aid for Gazans.

The proposal of the Scottish National Party, which is the third largest party in England, with the request for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, was voted on Wednesday evening in the British House of Commons.

293 members of Parliament opposed it and only 125 members agreed with the request for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Simultaneous with the voting, thousands of people, especially young people, gathered in front of the British Parliament building and shouted, asking for an immediate cease-fire.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators blamed the military, and political support for Tel Aviv, which is provided by the United States and the UK.

The demonstrators also censured the Israeli war crimes, including the bombardment of the residential areas, schools, and hospitals, calling the Zionists' actions "inhumane."

Rishi Sunak, the leader of the conservative party and the Prime Minister of England, and Keir Rodney Starmer, the leader of the opposition party, the Labor Party, who often criticizes the policies of the conservative party, both disagreed with establishing a ceasefire in Gaza.

As a result, a number of members of the Labor Party resigned.

Afzal Khan, Paula Barker, and Yasmin Qureshi are among the members of the Labor Party who resigned from the shadow government and voted in favor of the request for an immediate ceasefire against the leader of this party.

Earlier, Imran Hussain, another member of the Labor Party and a member of the shadow government resigned in protest of the party's leader, Starmer, who supports the continuation of the Gaza war. 219
