Iran Press/Iran news: Saeed Khatibzadeh said the resolution was drafted by Britain and other Western countries and repeated baseless allegations based on inaccurate and biased information.
Referring to the efforts of Western countries to continue the Iranophobia project, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said: "These countries, which themselves have a long history of human rights violations, including arms sales to authoritarian, occupier and aggressor regimes, use the human rights as a tool to advance their political aspirations.
He added: "Such immoral and unjustifiable moves not only will not help to promote the human rights situation in the world, but also lead to negative stereotypes and political labeling against nations, and seriously damage the real human rights."
Khatibzadeh added: "Iran condemns the action of the British government and other initiators of the resolution, which is a clear example of the misuse of human rights concepts and values to advance short-term political goals."
Selective approaches not help human rights
Khatibzadeh added: "In the resolution, the mission of the Special Rapporteur has been extended. The Special Rapporteur, who has presented several recent reports, has shown that he acts in accordance with the agenda of the Britains, Americans and Zionists."
"Countries that themselves violate the rights of other nations can not judge human rights in one country; they must be held accountable for their crimes in violation of human rights," the spokesperson noted.
Khatibzadeh added: "As it has been emphasized many times, the appointment of a special rapporteur on human rights for a country like Iran is basically unjustifiable and unconstructive."
"Despite the oppressive pressures of US economic terrorism, Iran has always lived up to its commitments to its citizens and the international community," he added.
Khatibzadeh added: "Supporters of the resolution should first and foremost condemn the US government's actions due to economic terrorism and the escalation of unilateral and oppressive sanctions and their destructive effects on Iranians' access to basic needs such as medical equipment and items during the Corona virus."
