Tehran (IP) - The heads of the joint commission for economic cooperation between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan exchanged views on the latest bilateral developments, especially in the fields of energy and transportation.

Iran PressIran News: According to Iran Press, Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Rostam Ghasemi and Shahin Mustafayev, Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who also serve as the heads of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission of the two countries, held a telephone conversation, talking  about the latest developments in bilateral relations, especially in the fields of energy and transportation. 

Emphasizing the need to speed up the implementation of existing agreements, the two sides called for the identification and removal of possible obstacles to the agreements between the two countries.

The Republic of Azerbaijan is one of Iran's neighbors, which has called for expanding cooperation with Iran in various fields in recent years.

Relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan gained a new momentum after the meeting of the presidents of the two countries on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Ashgabat on November 28, 2021.

Geopolitical realities and linking factors such as enjoying the privilege of neighbourliness, religious and historical commonalities, demographic homogeneity and common economic and security interests require that Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, as two neighboring countries, have close and effective cooperation and coordination in bilateral and regional relations in line with the interests of the two nations and security and stability in the region.
